MARY KATE DOBER

This series of photographs shows a crystal ball surrounded by mirrors as different light sources are moved off camera and reflect off, through, and around these reflective surfaces. The ball remains in the same position throughout the set while the mirrors and various light sources are moved in different ways.The series uses light painting and ideas from surrealism and The Light and Space Movement of the 1960-1970s to create a sense of wonder and disconnect the viewer from reality.
